Fleadh Ceoil na hEireann:
Wheelchair Ducks Go Swimming.

Cavans largest fundraiser of the year

Irish Wheelchair Association, Cavan Resource and Outreach Centre will hold a fundraising Duck Race on the Kinnypottle river (beside the bus station) on Saturday 21st August. We hope to raise much needed funds to support the running of our Resource and Outreach Centre based at Corlurgan Business Park, Ballinagh Rd. Cavan. Our Centre provides services to people with limited mobility throughout the county.

The race which will run between the Bus Station and the Scout Den starts at 2.00 pm and is also an opportunity to highlight the work the Association does in the town and to provide a spectacle for the community in conjunction with the All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil.

Ducks are a very reasonably priced €2 each and the first five home will net €100 for their “Owners”. Tickets are on sale from the IWA Resource Centre, Corlurgan Business Pk. Up to Friday 20th August and from IWA Staff and Members.

On the day there will be sale points throughout Cavan town and from the IWA buses located around the race start point.

All are welcome to enjoy the “quack” on the banks of the river on 21st August and to witness Irish Wheelchair Association ducks in action. Local IWA Co-ordinator, Bridget Boyle, said “For us this is an excellent opportunity to highlight the work we do and what better time than during the All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil when the biggest gathering of people from Ireland and beyond will be on the streets to soak up the atmosphere.

If any IWA staff, members or volunteers attending the Fleadh on Saturday 21st August and are available to help for a couple of hours in selling ducks please contact Bridget Boyle IWA Cavan on 049 437 1212.
