Key to IWA’s Strategy 2017 – 2020, will be to develop our commercial capacity and to deliver value to our members and customers. We now have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced, dynamic Commercial Development Director to join our team.

Overall Purpose of Job

Reporting to the CEO, the Commercial Development Director, will lead the commercial development function of the organisation including fundraising, marketing, sponsorship, retail and new business opportunities. The Commercial Development Director will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic commercial advice to management in order to develop and strengthen our existing commercial activities, as well as identifying new areas that will provide income to support the aims and ethos of IWA and its members.

 

To succeed in this role, the successful candidate must be a creative commercial strategist, with an entrepreneurial mindset and great collaborative and leadership skills.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Training, Experience and Qualifications
  • Relevant 3rd level degree in a business  discipline required, MBA desirable

  • A minimum of 7+ years of previous senior people management experience in a business development role (ideally in the area of service provision) is required

  • Project management and clear project leadership experience and abilities are a must

  • Proven experience and results in prospecting and developing new business

Knowledge and Skills
  • Financially & commercially literate with proven ability to evaluate business opportunities including developing marketing research and financial/ROI data

  • High level sales, presentation, communication and relationship management skills

  • Excellent negotiating skills

  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Ability to comprehend and problem solve by thinking and acting quickly on your feet.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to lead, motivate and manage staff

  • Full driving licence and own car required

  • An awareness and understanding of the work of Irish Wheelchair Association is desirable
