Speaking about the event Kathleen McLoughlin, CEO of the Irish Wheelchair Association said:
We are delighted that the University of Limerick Orchestra has selected Irish Wheelchair Association as their charity of choice for 2014. Our members, staff, volunteers and supporters look forward to joining the University of Limerick Orchestra and the Coláiste Muire School Choir for what promises to be an exhilarating performance and an opportunity to enjoy a selection of music from concertos to symphonies.
The University of Limerick Orchestra will feature two premieres, one is a recently discovered work by Irish composer Michael Balfe and the other by Limerick born composer Barry Walsh. The Bruch Violin Concerto played by Diane Daly, one of Irelands most celebrated and versatile violinists and Danzon No. 2 by Marquez will also be highlights of the event. University Of Limerick Orchestra believes in supporting the community in which we live and those that are in need. Giving back is a huge part of who we are and what we believe in. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside the Irish Wheelchair Association and support the range of services that the Association provides to enhance the lives of its members.
