IWA Marathon Marvels

The Dublin Marathon has become a permanent fixture in the annual IWA calendar in recent years and so it was on the 26th October 2010, on a lovely day with perfect conditions for marathon running, or in some cases walking, a number of IWA Hero’s took to the streets of Dublin to complete the 26.2 mile course. The Superheroes were easily spotted as they dressed to impress, wearing their favourite superhero costumes. The Superheroes hoped to raise €50,000 for Irish Wheelchair Association.

The IWA team of Hero’s included some runners from the 2009 IWA marathon team and a number of marathon first timers. All members of IWA’s team completed the course safely and it is hoped that last year’s fundraised total of €8,000 will be surpassed this year. All money raised will be spent locally and will go to support the essential services which IWA provides to its members and service users throughout Ireland.
