IWA Re Nua is a new holiday service for people under the age of sixty five who have a physical or a sensory disability, or an acquired brain injury in Tipperary and the surrounding regions.
The service is provided by the Irish Wheelchair Association and operates from four apartments on the grounds of Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel, Co. Tipperary.
All apartments are fully equipped with profiling beds, hoists and shower chairs. Apartments also contain a kitchenette for the use of guests, comfortable furniture and flat screen TVs. Guests are supported by trained staff and nursing care is available on request.
In 2010 IWA Re Nua in Cashel will also see the introduction of independent living training breaks for service users.
The aim of a training break is to provide personal care plus independent living training concentrating on supporting the individual to achieve maximum independence in their home, i.e. household management, budgeting, cookery, self advocacy and other skills as defined by the individual
