IWA Housing Projects

IWA is a Voluntary Housing Association and has several Housing Projects countrywide. Through our IWA centres in Dublin, Kilkenny, Limerick, Carlow and Galway IWA provides a range of housing options including long term independent living units, training for independent living and supported independent living. People living in IWA Housing Projects have been registered on Council Social Housing Lists.

Western Region

Galway
IWA provides independent living accommodation at three locations in Galway City. Suan, which is located on the Headford Road, offers permanent accommodation to four people. Coillte Mhuirlinne, Galway City, consists of four houses, built in pairs with an interlinking apartment to accommodate personal assistants and facilitate shared support. At Cul Ard, Wellpark, four independent living houses give residents an opportunity to experience independent living and to develop skills in preparation for permanent accommodation in the community. Renovations are ongoing to modernise these houses including installation of kitchen with height-adjustable units and worktops.

Limerick
Sarsfield Park in Limerick has six accessible one bedroomed and two bedroomed apartments providing independent living accommodation. There are also eight residents living in supported accommodation in the neighbouring Pheonix Lodge, a partnership between the HSE, Limerick, City Council and IWA. Roscommon
In Roscommon a bungalow purchased in 2005 was fully adapted to the highest access standards. The bungalow can support two residents with PA services to live independently.


Southern Region

Kilkenny
In Kilkenny City, IWA provides two independent living apartments in Claddagh Court, and a three bedroom house in Loughboy. IWA also provides a supported independent living service comprising of 10 apartments at Claddagh Court, where individualised support is provided by a shared staff team offering a range of personal, domestic and social supports combined with daily living skills training. The apartments are currently being refurbished.

Carlow
IWA operates two community independent living houses at Rath Abhainn close to Carlow town centre. The Carlow branch funded the high quality fit –out of these units and supported the development of the gardens in 2009.

South Tipperary
There are eight accessible one bedroom homes currently in construction on the Dualla Road in Cashel, Co. Tipperary, upon completion IWA will provide a mix of Independent Living Accommodation and a supported Independent Living services, comprising of a number of houses where individualised support will be provided by a shared staff team offering a range of personal, domestic and social supports combined with daily living skills training. The apartments are currently under refurbishment, however applications are welcome from those interested in both Independent Living Accomadation and Supported Independent Living services in Tipperary.

Dublin North East Region

Dublin
IWA undertook an extensive refurbishment project on the Leo Close Apartments in Clontarf in 2009. In total there are five one – bed apartments and one two-bed apartment, connected by an exterior glazed walkway with access to a secured shared garden. Special features include side-hinge ovens, height adjustable cupboards and work surfaces in the kitchens, electric windows, and pull-down hanging shelves in the wardrobes. One apartment is fitted with full environmental controls, providing a higher level of automation for people with greater support needs.

The Carmel Fallon Apartments
IWA has six long term, two bedroomed accessible private rental apartments on the grounds of the IWA Headquarters in Clontarf. There are currently no vacancies in these apartments.

Dublin Mid-Leinster Region

There are no housing opportunities available at present in Dublin Mid-Leinster.
