This All Ireland Championship immerses Transistion Year students in a fast paced, edge of your seat Paralympic sport and provides an authentic first hand inclusive experience of this incredible game.

Support the work of Irish Wheelchair Association through our annual fundraising campaign, Angels


Take part in your local regional final alongside neighbouring schools. The top teams will go forward to the All-Ireland Final!

How to Enter

To enter your school into the IWA All-Ireland Wheelchair Basketball Championships please click the enter button below to fill in our secure form and you will be contacted by our Fundraising Team. Please note the contact details must be for a teacher from your school.

Frequently Asked Questions

Entry fee
All schools will be asked to fundraise €1,000 by taking part in IWA’s Angels Campaign during November 2018 and through school fundraising (between September and December). All funds must be returned by Friday 14th December 2018. IWA’s Community Fundraising Officers will be on hand to help develop your fundraising program.

Who can enter?
This competition is open to the TY years of all secondary schools. Ideally the schools will be Co. Ed.

Single gender schools will be amalgamated on the day with another school for the purpose of making a Co. Ed. Team.

How do you register?
Fill in the below form above and a member of the Fundraising Department will be in contact in the next few days or alternatively contact Jacqui O’Connor by emailing jacqui.oconnor@iwa.ie. Schools must register byFriday 26th October 2018.

What is the competition format?
Teams that enter will play regional finals in their respective regions. Teams from each regional final will qualify for the All Ireland Finals.

When and where will it be played?
The regional finals will be played across the country between February 2019 and March 2019.
The All-Ireland Finals will be played in early April 2019 in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.

What do we need to bring?
An enthusiastic team and a set of your school jerseys. IWA will provide the wheelchairs and

A commemorative trophy to take pride of place among your schools silverware.
