Bargains in Store
Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) were joined by Mayor of Listowel, Cllr Jimmy Moloney, local community organisations, families, friends and members of the Association as they relaunched the IWA Charity Shop located on William Street. Over the past few months, the shop has undergone a much needed revamp, including the installation of new signage, fixtures and fittings. The shop raises vital funds for the range of services and supports IWA provides to people with physical disabilities and reduced mobility from Listowel and the surrounding areas.
Irish Wheelchair Association first opened the Listowel Charity Shop in 2001. The shop is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who give their time freely to support the day to day running of the Charity Shop. All funds raised in the Charity Shop are immediately invested into the essential services the Association delivers from their Resource and Outreach Centre based on the Ballygalogue Road. The centre provides a range of programmes and activities to almost 50 people from Listowel on a weekly basis.
Speaking at the event today, Tomás McCluskey, IWA Retail Development Coordinator explained:
Irish Wheelchair Association is delighted to welcome the Listowel community to the relaunch of our Charity Shop, which has undergone extensive refurbishment over the past few months. The staff, volunteers and members of the Association are delighted with the final result which we hope will encourage new customers to visit the shop, make a donation or volunteer their time. We hope the shop will be used as a community hub where people can shop, chat, and learn more about the work and services IWA provides to individuals in their own homes and communities.
The Association is asking local people to support the shop by donating quality goods. Items that will be gratefully accepted include clothes, shoes, handbags, school wear, books, toys, bric a brac, drapery, bed linen, unwanted gifts and small items of furniture. The Charity Shop offers a collection service for larger products. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 17:00pm. To learn more about how you can support the shop or to make a donation of unwanted goods please call the IWA Shop Supervisor, Mamie Stack on 068 248 30 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
