Spokeout
September 2025

Hello, September! As we say goodbye to summer, the air starts to feel just a little cooler, and routines begin to fall back into place as schools and colleges return.

September is all about fresh starts and in this month’s Spotlight feature, IWA member Richard McCann shares about his new beginnings – thanks to IWA’s Ability Programme for job seekers.

We are also delighted to highlight the work of IWA’s Disability Awareness in Schools and Youth Progammes (DAISY) and how it continues to play a vital role in challenging perceptions and breaking down stereotypes about people with disabilities among young people

Adam Drummond speaks to us ahead of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships which kick off this weekend, we bring you all the fun from a ‘friendly’ IWA Boccia competition and what it means to members, and the power of giving back – two volunteers share how they became involved in IWA.

You’ll find details inside of our annual Fundraising Day which takes place across the country on Thursday September 25.  A huge thanks to all who support our efforts every year.

Finally, a reminder that this is your magazine.  If there is something you would like to see covered in Spoke Out do get in touch – details on the back page.

In the meantime, happy reading!

Many thanks,

Marie.
