The Jamie Boyle Games took place in Templemore while a number of IWA Sport members also competed at the AAI Games in Tullamore

Templemore AC was the venue for the Jamie Boyle Games at the weekend and the weather thankfully held up for a great day of para-athletics.

A number of records were broken courtesy of Trix Schwedler in the javelin for the second week, improving her best to 13.58 while Cian O’ Neill had two games records in the Discus (25.92) also a PB in the Javelin (18.49). To top it off, 19 personal bests were achieved across the day. Ella Sherlock got 4 PBs while Jack O’ Connor got 3. Meanwhile, a big congratulations to Ray Dwyer, the Spirit of Jamie Award winner!

Elsewhere, Five para-athletes took part in the AAI games in Tullamore on Saturday and Sunday. Alex Lee had some great runs however the force of the wind denied Alex new records (100m 11.44 wind 4.5 and 200m 23.54 wind 2.2)

Jordan Lee high jump 1.80 just failing at a seasonal best of 1.93. Mary Fitzgerald shot 7.72, Greta Streimikyte 1500m 4.32.04 and Cathal Ryan 54.08 in 400m.

The South East East Games are next up on the Para-Athletics Grand Prix on August 20th. A training day is also taking place in Athlone TUS on Saturday, July 30th starting at 11 am until 2pm.
