Why include Irish Wheelchair Association in your Will?

Drawing up a Will is a deeply personal matter. It is not just a way to make certain your nearest and dearest are looked after. It is also a way to ensure that your values live on after you are gone – by supporting the causes you care about most deeply. As the country’s leading organisation for people with physical disabilities, Irish Wheelchair Association is continually looking for ways to not only meet the demand for our services, but to expand what we offer and reach even more people in the years to come.

Gifts in Wills form a vital part of our funding. As we plan for the future, these generous gifts enable us to proceed responsibly and dream big – ensuring we have a stable base of funds for our work and that all those who work with us have the practical help they need to live with as much freedom and independence as possible.

How to make a lasting gift in your Will

As well as being a powerful way to give, including a gift to a charity in your Will is usually quite straightforward. All you need to do is contact a solicitor and they will talk you through the process of either drawing up a new Will or amending an existing one. They will need you to provide the name, address and Registered Charity Number of the charity you wish to support.

Karin’s Story

Karin’s Story

Karin has been coming to her local Irish Wheelchair Association Centre two days a week since she began using a wheelchair. She really enjoys the company and seeing her friends.  Karin’s face lights up when she talks about it. “We have such fun. The laughs we have. I don’t think I have ever left this place that I haven’t had a good laugh.

Karin comes to the centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There are different activities each week. “We do different courses like gardening, computers, arts, crafts.” says Karin. She studied a horticulture course through the Community Centre and proudly says that she has a diploma to say she is a gardener.

Give a future that includes everyone, include Irish Wheelchair Association in your will.

“I don’t think I have ever left this place that I haven’t had a good laugh”.— Karin
