IWA-Sport, alongside five other European Governing Bodies have began a collaboration with the Empowered Female Coaches of Team Sports project.

The Empowered Female Coaches of Team Sports (EFCoTS) project sets out to achieve four primary objectives:

  • Develop methodologies to combat sexist and dsicriminatory behaviours.
  • Supporting current and former athletes on their path to a coaching career.
  • Sharing best practices on women coaches across six countries (Spain, Serbia, Portugal, Croatia, Italy and Ireland).
  • Raising awareness about the challenges and the power of female coaches.

Co-Funded by the European Union and launched in October, IWA-Sport has collaborated with project leaders Barcel’hona Sport Events (Spain), as well as KOM 018 (Serbia), FuteBola (Portugal), RSZZ – Zagreb County Handball Federation (Croatia) and Educazione Benessere (Italy).

The partnering nations will conduct study visits, undergo training, exchange toolkits and conduct an EU-wide awareness campaign throughout the duration of the project. With the first study visit already having taken place in November in Orta Nova, Italy.

Running until October 2027, we’ll strive to empower female coaches of team sports.

Because every team deserves the leadership of strong, capable and empowered women.
