The day is finally here. Competition starts today with athletes Kerrie Leonard, Para Archery, taking to the field of play at 12pm (Irish Time) for her ranking round. It’s a busy day in the pool with Para Swimmers, Nicole Turner first up at 10am. Team Irelands Para Cycling athletes will take to the track today too for qualifying and finals. We’ll bring you all the latest on the athletes performances later on today.

All 12 days of the Paralympic Games will be broadcast by RTE, including 104 hours on RTE 2 and over 500 hours of coverage on RTE Player so make sure to tune in.

RTE will have live commentary from John Kenny and former Paralympian, James Scully.

Last night saw our athletes enjoy the Opening Ceremony which was nothing short of spectacular and we have included a gallery of photos here to give you a flavour of the evening.

IWA member, Colin Judge did the country proud as a flag bearer on the evening alongside Orla Comerford.

We are bursting with pride as our athletes get into competition today.

Come on Team Ireland!
