Irish Wheelchair Association and Aherlow Ladies Football Club are thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of their recent joint fundraiser, which saw over €18,000 raised to support both organisations.

All funds raised are being divided equally between both groups providing funding of €9,115 to each organisation. The highlight of the event was an extraordinary 100-kilometre run in 24 hours showcasing the strength, determination, and community spirit that can make a significant impact on those in need.

The fundraiser, held on 20th/21st January in Canon Hayes Sports Complex Tipperary Town brought together participants, sponsors, and community members united in their commitment to making a positive difference.

The driving force behind this remarkable achievement was Aherlow LGFA club member Stuart Moloney who took on the monumental challenge of running 100 kilometres within a 24-hour timeframe, starting each 4km on the hour for 24 hours.

The generosity of sponsors and the community at large played a pivotal role in the success of this event.

The funds raised will directly benefit the Irish Wheelchair Association’s mission to enhance the lives of people with physical disabilities, promoting inclusivity and independence.

Aherlow Ladies Football Club, proud co-organisers of the fundraiser, expressed their gratitude to everyone involved, emphasising the collective effort that made this achievement possible.

The funds raised will make a significant difference in their ability to provide enhanced opportunities for girls and women of all ages to participate in ladies football.

“We are incredibly humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support from our sponsors, participants, and the community. The funds raised will go a long way in assisting the Irish Wheelchair Association in their vital work,” said Josephine Carroll,  Service Coordinator with Irish Wheelchair Association, South Tipperary.

Irish Wheelchair Association Tipperary and Aherlow Ladies Football Club extend heartfelt thanks to all sponsors and contributors who made this event a resounding success. A particular word of thanks to St Michaels AFC and Canon Hayes Sports Complex for the use of their facilities throughout the challenge.  The collaborative effort demonstrated the power of community and compassion, reinforcing the belief that together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.
