Irish Wheelchair Association Sport’s TY Wheelchair Basketball Regional Championship immerses TY students in a fast paced, edge of your seat, Paralympic Sport and provides an authentic first hand inclusive experience of this incredible game.
The Transition Year Wheelchair Basketball Championships will take place in Neptune Stadium, Cork (April 9th) and Gormanston, Meath (April 16th).

This competition is open to the TY students of all secondary schools.Ideally schools will be co-educational but teams can amalgamate for the purposes of having a mixed team.
Schools can pick whether they play in the Munster or Leinster and play regional finals in their respective regions or as close to their region as can be facilitated.
Championships will take place in Neptune Stadium, Cork (April 9th) and Gormanston College, Meath (April 16th).
Each team can have a maximum of 20 players. Five players on court at any time with a ratio of three and two (either three girls and two boys or vice versa).
An enthusiastic team and a set of your school jerseys. Irish Wheelchair Association will provide all other equipment and resources.
Regional winners will receive a TY Wheelchair Basketball Championship Trophy and a Wheelchair Basketball and Disability Awareness session for their school, which will include a teachers vs students playoff!
Supporters are welcome. Please let us know in advance how many students you are planning to bring as there may be a restriction depending on the capacity of the venue. You can let us know this number through the registration form.

All entries must be received no later than two weeks before the event you are entering.Once we reach capacity for the TY Wheelchair Basketball Regional Championship we will not be able to take any more registrations. These are being held on a first come first served basis as places are limited.

Payment must be lodged with the Irish Wheelchair Association no later than 2 weeks prior to taking part in regional competitions.
Donations of €250 or over in a year are eligible for tax relief at 45% so your €250 is worth €362 to Irish Wheelchair Association and the people we support with physical disabilities with no extra cost to you
Donations of €21 a month or more in one year are eligible for tax relief at 45% so your annual total of €252 is worth €365 to Irish Wheelchair Association and the people they support with physical disabilities with no extra cost to you.
