In the first five months of 2024, IWA-Sport has proudly launched three new junior multi-sport clubs, with the support of local sport partnerships and the Sport Ireland Dormant Accounts Fund. The latest being the Waterford Junior Multi-Sport Club to launch in mid-May.

At the start of April, IWA-Sport, alongside Fingal County Council Sport Office launched Fingal Junior Multi-Sport Club at the Balbriggan Sport Centre.

Children with physical disabilities and siblings have fun playing games at the Limerick Junior Multi-Sport Club

Shortly after, it was a trip to the Treaty County where the Limerick Junior Multi-Sport Club was launched alongside Limerick Sports Partnership at UL Arena. Most recently, IWA-Sport successfully launched the Waterford Junior Multi-Sport Club with Waterford Sports Partnership.

Each club is for children aged 5-15 with a physical disability, where they can try a variety of para sports while making new friends and developing important social and mobility skills in a safe and fun environment. And siblings are welcome to join in on the fun too!

Since their respective launches, there are over 20 children registered at each club. When speaking on the launch of the three new junior multi-sport clubs, IWA-Sport National Operations Manager, Paul Ryan said:

This junior multi-sport club for children with physical disabilities is not just about playing games; it’s about fostering inclusion, building confidence, nurturing resilience and developing life skills that will support your child’s life journey.

This club will create an environment where every child, regardless of ability, can discover their strengths and shine in a supportive space where differences are celebrated, empowering your child to reach their full potential.

Waterford Junior Multi-Sport Club takes place at the Kingfisher Club on Tramore Road on Tuesdays 6pm-7pm. Limerick Junior Multi-Sport Club runs on Wednesdays 7:30pm-8:30pm at UL Arena. Fingal Junior Multi-Sport Club is on a temporary break with more info coming soon of new dates.
