IWA-Sport and Limerick Sports Partnership are proud to announce that the Limerick Junior Multi-Sport Club will launch on Wednesday 1st May.

Funded via the Equality, Inclusion and Diversity Sport Ireland/Dormant Accounts Fund, the Limerick Junior Multi-Sport Club will provide a great opportunity for children aged 5-15 with a physical disability to try para sport and be involved in a fully inclusive environment.

Starting at 7:30pm on Wednesday 1st May at UL Arena, University of Limerick, the club will give children the chance each week to try a variety of para sports, including wheelchair basketball, para athletics, wheelchair rugby, boccia and more.

IWA-Sport’s Sport Development Officer, Kelly McGrory spoke on the importance of bringing a multi-sport club to a sport-passionate county like Limerick:

“The junior multi-sport club has been a successful programme across the country for IWA-Sport and we are excited to work with Limerick Sports Partnership, to bring it to a big sporting county such as Limerick.

“A multi-sport club for children with physical disabilities will offer immense benefits to the local community. Beyond the obvious physical advantages of exercise and skill development, the club will foster inclusion in the community, while promoting para sports and create a sense of belonging for children with physical disabilities and their families.

“We hope this initiative will empower children with disabilities to explore various para sports and adapted physical activity, build friendships, and thrive in an inclusive and supportive community setting.”
